In the 1950’s, company founder Cecily Sostek began a baby nurse service. She was a pioneer in the home care referral business and earned a loyal following. Clients who had benefited from her services called us again, years later, for help caring for aging parents or family members. Many asked, “Can you find us someone who is kind, caring and compassionate to help with my parents, just like the wonderful lady you matched us with years ago to help with our baby?"

Cecily was joined by her son, Donald Sostek in 1983 who shared her extraordinary interests for helping others. He further expanded the company to include the senior referral care business and carried on the outstanding tradition of excellence in helping many families find the perfect caregiver.

Sheila Wolfson, the Owner and Director of Sostek, joined the company in 1994. After several years of experience in business management and the healthcare fields, she discovered a wonderful opportunity at Sostek that combined both of her passions. The position allowed her to blend her management skills with her love of healthcare. Sheila became the very first employee at Sostek and quickly grew fond of the dedication and compassion demonstrated by the Sostek family in their mission to help others. Her goal has always been to carry forward this wonderful commitment, especially when it comes to serving seniors.

In today’s world, where the aging population is on the rise and home care costs can be overwhelming, Sheila genuinely understands the emotional and financial challenges families face while caring for their elderly loved ones. With a heartfelt commitment to helping seniors age comfortably at home, she is devoted to guiding families in finding the perfect caregiver to meet their unique needs. Sheila believes that exceptional caregivers are not just skilled professionals but also individuals with a true passion for making a meaningful difference in the lives of seniors. She works hard to make the caregiver referral process as simple and reassuring as possible, empowering families with choice, control, and continuity of care—all while keeping these essential services affordable and accessible.

Over her 31-year journey, Sheila has assisted both families and caregivers in making the right connections. In 2020, Donald Sostek, owner and mentor, passed the torch to Sheila, entrusting her with the company's future. Driven by her desire to help others, Sheila continues to uphold Sostek’s mission, positively impacting the lives of seniors and helping them age in place with grace and dignity.

Melanie Coakley joined the Sostek team in 1999. Her compassion for seniors and her understanding of their needs truly set her apart. Melanie's ability to connect with individuals and offer personalized attention has made a significant difference in the lives of many seniors, while also recognizing the invaluable role of caregivers. Following a brief hiatus in 2006, we were fortunate to welcome her back in 2016 as the Assistant Director, where her leadership skills allowed her to continue to demonstrate her commitment to our mission of assisting seniors in navigating homecare and referring the perfect caregiver.

Shannon McNeil became a member of the Sostek team in 2003 and has played an important role in maintaining the company's commitment to excellence. With many years of experience in the homecare field, she understands the benefits of a successful match for both the senior and the caregiver. Shannon leads the vital recruitment and vetting process for caregivers, focusing on quality candidates who not only possess the necessary experience but also share the passion that is essential to uphold Sostek's esteemed reputation.

Cecily passed away on the 55th anniversary of the founding of the company. She leaves a legacy of quality and excellence, and a following of over ten thousand satisfied customers... and growing!
